You gave it a hell of a try. Remember, the Sturgis rally started with just a few friends getting together for a weekend to race their bikes. It wasn't until they had been having their little "get together" for five or six years before anyone traveled more than 50 miles to get there. Maybe if you just set aside one weekend a year for friends to gather and have a good time it will grow naturally. Just anyone who happens to be in the area at the time or feels like traveling. Who knows? An informal "rally" may be better than an organized one.
